BARPIMO launches Hydrobarp Care onto the market. This new line of hygienic, water-based, single-component finishes for indoors is the perfect solution for creating healthy spaces that fulfil cleanliness, aesthetics, and naturalness requirements, which are increasingly valued in the wood industry and in current interior design projects.

Hydrobarp Care has been designed for varnishing carpentry, furniture, or decorative elements that are made of any type of indoor wood and that require a high level of hardness and physical resistance, as well as effective protection against fungi, microorganisms, and bacteria. • Hydrobarp Care complies with ISO-22196 and UNE EN15457 standards measuring antibacterial and antifungal activity. The effectiveness tests, which were carried out in the CITA-CTIC agri-food laboratory, demonstrated an effectiveness of over 99% against some of the most common bacteria and fungi, including Aspergillus niger, Penicillium pinophilum, Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and Trichoderma virens.
• Hydrobarp Care has very low emissions of volatile organic compounds. Therefore, it is under examination for the A+ indoor emissions certification on the emission of harmful volatile substances in case of inhalation, which comprises a scale ranging from A+ (practically no emissions) to C (high emission).

This photo shows the result of the test in which nine pieces of wood with the aspergillus niger fungus were examined. The three pieces at the bottom were left unvarnished, a common white finish was applied to the three pieces at the centre, and Hydrobarp Care was applied to the three pieces at the top, revealing a 99% effectiveness against the fungus. The same test was carried out again, demonstrating effectiveness against Penicillium pinophilum, Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and Trichoderma virens.
